Plants Not Getting Enough Water

Step by step procedure to follow if your plants are not getting water.

Let's assess the conditions:

  • Are the peat moss plugs 'bone-dry'?
  • Is the water in the reservoir above the minimum line?
  • Is the pump running?
  • Is the pump plugged into the timer?
  • Is the timer plugged into the power bar?
  • Is the power bar turned on?
  • Is there power to that outlet in your home?
  • Are the supply lines (either the Y or the T lines) connected and secured?
  • Is your pump running for at least 30 seconds per cycle?

Here are some ways to resolve:
1) Try turning the system off for 5 minutes and then turning it back on.

2) How are your plants placed in your unit? Larger plants should always be placed at the bottom and smaller plants near the top. The reason for this is, larger plants tend to have larger roots, and this prevents the smaller plants from getting the right amount of water they need.

3) When was the last time you trimmed your roots? We recommend trimming your roots at least once a month to 3 inches in length. Trimming the roots is an important part of maintaining your unit and promoting healthy plant growth.

4) Try cleaning your system by using a drain snake and descaling. Consult our manuals for more detailed instructions.

5) Check if your unit is draining, if the unit is not draining water then there is a blockage in the units drain pipe that needs to be cleared by using the drain snake
