Growing Tips & Conditions for Kale, Basil, Lettuce & Arugula

We will explore the different techniques, conditions, when and how you can harvest kale, basil, lettuce & arugula.

Note that these are plant care tips after you have sprouted and transplanted your plants.

Different plants thrive in different temperature conditions and have different harvest times.
In general, we need to make sure that our AEVA / EVE are maintained accordingly as well as having the correct water levels, nutrients and air flow. Consult our manuals for more information.

Okay, Let's get started!

1. Kale
Best temperature: 18°C - 23°C

Ready to harvest 3-4 weeks after germination. Harvested by leaf starting with the leaves closer to the base of the plant (nothing more than 1/3 of the plant if you want regrowth) .

2. Basil
Best temperature: 21°C - 27°C

Ready to harvest 2-3 weeks after germination. Harvested many times throughout its life and responds well to being trimmed. Cut basil from the top canopy of the plant to encourage fuller growth width wise instead of vertical growth.

3. Green Butter Lettuce
Best temperature: 13°C - 18°C

Ready for harvest 3-4 weeks after germination. You can harvest continually by taking only a few leaves from the outside (nothing more than 1/3 of the plant if you want regrowth) or you can take the whole plant at once.

It is completely normal if your lettuce starts to bolt. When the lettuce bolts, the plant would look as if it has been elongated, looks like a bolt or a tower. Bolting is part of its lifecycle which would be around 60 days after transplanting the plant. It is best to not continue eating it as it will taste bitter.

4. Red Butter Lettuce
Best temperature: 13°C - 18°C

Ready for harvest 3-4 weeks after germination. You can harvest continually by taking only a few leaves from the outside (nothing more than 1/3 of the plant if you want regrowth) or you can take the whole plant at once.

5. Arugula
Best temperatures: 7°C - 18°C

Ready to harvest 3-4 weeks after germination. You can harvest continually by taking only a few leaves at once (nothing more than 1/3 of the plant if you want regrowth) or take the whole plant at once.
